Getting around
Glendale does not have its own major commercial airport, but Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport serves the area, and Glendale Municipal Airport is located in the western part of the city. The city is crossed by Loop 101, the only freeway in the regional freeway system to pass directly through Glendale, with Interstate 10 accessible from the southern portion of the city and Interstate 17 from the eastern portion. Local and express bus routes operate through a service contract between the City of Phoenix and Valley Metro/RPTA, including a park-and-ride lot at Loop 101 and Glendale Avenue and the Arrowhead Transit Center.
Homes and housing
Glendale's housing includes neighborhoods such as Arrowhead Ranch, which became an active area for housing development following the 1993 opening of Arrowhead Towne Center. The Loop 101 corridor, near Westgate and State Farm Stadium, has seen continued residential development, including multifamily projects. Areas near the Loop 101 and Glendale Avenue, such as Zanjero, have been planned as mixed-use developments including residential components alongside retail and office space.
